A place for the words you still carry

Wind Phone, or “The Wind Phone,” is a telephone that is not connected to a network. You do not need to believe that your words will reach anywhere. It is enough to let the wind carry them.

You pick up the receiver and speak. About yesterday, about today, about everything that has happened. About the things left unsaid, or simply about whatever you feel like sharing. You can also say nothing.

Sometimes the physical act itself — going there, picking up the receiver, and making space for what you carry inside — matters.

The first Wind Phone appeared in 2010 in a small garden in Japan. From there, a deeply personal idea spread around the world, and today such phones exist in hundreds of places across five continents.

- the Bulgarian Wind Phone

A phone by the Dragalevtsi River

Wind Phone Bulgaria began in one specific place and with one specific person.

I placed the first phone by the Dragalevtsi River, in a place that already holds memories of my mother. I did it for the conversations I still have with her. But I leave it there for anyone who has their own unspoken words.

Do you already know where you would place a Wind Phone?

Wind Phone has no specific type, size, or location. Anyone can create their own or share information about a phone that already exists in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe.

You don't need a special phone or a ready-made kit. You need a meaningful place, an old phone, and the willingness to do it.

- why Wind Phone

If you could call again...

You can talk to the person you miss in your thoughts, in your dreams, or out loud. But sometimes you also need something physical — to go somewhere, pick up the receiver, and give expression to what would otherwise remain inside you.

It gives the unspoken a place

We don't always manage to say everything in time. And sometimes the words come much later. A Wind Phone gives them a physical place — outside your thoughts and outside yourself.

It brings back a familiar action

Picking up the phone, lifting the receiver, and starting to talk is something so ordinary — until one day there is no one left to call. A Wind Phone brings back this gesture without promising an answer.

It leaves room for silence

You don't have to say anything. You can simply pick up the receiver and stay there for a while. Sometimes even the words you cannot bring yourself to say need a place.

Not every call is waiting for an answer

Sometimes you just feel like picking up the phone and talking.
And let the wind carry your words away...
