Wind Phone by Balcary Bay

In the summer of 2026, writer Colette Swan places an old telephone on the stone wall of her garden near Balcary Bay. There is no booth or special structure—just a telephone, the sea, Hestan Island on the horizon and, as she puts it, almost always enough wind.

Colette has known about the Wind Phone concept since her years in the United States and has always found it simple and beautiful. Beside the phone, she leaves a message: you can say what you never got to say, laugh, cry, remain silent— there is no right way to do it.

“No one is listening. Just you, the telephone and the wind.”

It was a photograph of this telephone that inspired the creation of the first Wind Phone in Bulgaria.
