Around the World
From a garden in Japan, the idea of the Wind Phone has reached hundreds of places around the world. Each one looks different, but at its core is the same simple idea — to have a place for the words we still want to say.
world
- one idea | hundreds of places
No two are alike
Some are in white phone booths, others under a small shelter, on a wooden table, or simply in nature. They were created by different people, in different places, and for different reasons.
It is not the form that makes them Wind Phones.
But the need that led someone to leave them there.
- one idea, countless forms
Everyone creates it in their own way
A phone booth in a garden, a handset in the woods, a small box beside a path, or a telephone on a rock. There is no right way for a Wind Phone to look. Sometimes, the place and the story behind it determine its form.
- My Wind Phone
The global Wind Phone community
In 2020, Amy created My Wind Phone in memory of her daughter Emily.
What began as a personal project gradually became a place that brings together Wind Phones from around the world — their locations, the stories behind them, and the people who created them.
Today, My Wind Phone maintains one of the largest maps of Wind Phones in the world. There, you can discover a phone near you, explore the different ways people have created their own places, or add a Wind Phone that you made yourself.
