Wind Phone in Tākaka

For Dying Matters Week in 2025, in Tākaka Memorial Park a temporary Wind Phone appears, created with the help of the local community. John Black builds the booth, the red telephone is donated by Liza Eastman, and people from Golden Bay help fund the project.

The phone remains in the park for one week, but its creators hope to find a permanent place for it. A wonderful example of how a Wind Phone can emerge not as one person’s project, but as a shared idea of an entire community.

By the way, in New Zealand there are at least four more listed by Go With Grace—in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Temuka.
